Akai MPK mini setup manager
I recently got myself a MPK mini, and the bundled preset manager is quite inconvenient, because you need disarm your tracks to run it, and then close it to use Reaper again. So before actually making some music, I had to code this:
v/7766/MPK%20Mini%20setup
Route output from the track to MPK Mini MIDI port. Selecting preset 0 will change current setup, without overwriting any stored preset. To apply setup, switch Send to NOW! It will flip back to not yet as soon as setup is sent. All parameters that are not displayed are reset to default values! (ARP settings, octave, ... but those are accessible from the controller).
You can use keyboard part of controller to setup keys of pads. Select a pad in quot ad selectquot;, and play a note on keyboard. If you play same note twice, quot ad selectquot; is reset to quot;Nonequot; to prevent further changes.
Enjoy!
Thanks Patrick - much appreciated. I have an Akai MPK 25, I'll try to get it going. Two questions:
1. Does your MPK work at all with Reaper (I can't it to see it among the midi devices, there's a separate thread on that).
2. How I 'set up' your software (I've never done this before with any JS application).
Thanks!

Reaper is usually innocent in these cases. It took over an hour to make it work. The cause for that was nasty Logitech webcam w/ microphone driver. I had to clean up some bits in registry. If you have some similar lowend audio device in your setup, I can look up the page that helped me.

You copy the file to your Reaper's application data folder. You can get there by typing following address into Explorer's address bar: %AppData%\REAPER\Effects
Oh, wait! This is for MPK mini, not MPK25! Probably will do no harm, but likely will not work, either
Thanks Patrik!
Well, I have a high end professional grade soundcard, and my computer was custom built - I am just really puzzled why it doesn't work.
Maybe I'll give my computer guys a call on Monday and have them sort it out.

Neither of those should have any bearing on whether or not Reaper detects your MPK, since you're plugging the MPK direct into a USB port, not through your soundcard. (And by soundcard, you mean audio interface, right?)
To me, it sounds like maybe you don't have midi input selected on the track, or something may be wrong under Preferences - Devices. |
